Jessamyn Violet is a writer and musician based in Venice Beach. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she stayed local to receive a BFA in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College. A year later, she moved Los Angeles to write and edit for entertainment magazines for the last of the good old magazine days, interviewing writers like John Green and Matt Groening. Jessamyn then moved to San Francisco to bask in the last of the great bookstore days, earning her MFA in Creative Writing from California College of the Arts. Her book of poetry, Organ Thieves, was published by Gauss PDF. Her screenplay “Exit Strategies” was a quarterfinalist in Scriptapalooza. Short stories have been published in 805 Art + Lit Magazine, Adelaide and Little Break and are forthcoming in Three Elements. Jessamyn also plays drums for the band Movie Club.
