Eva Oakes has worked at the Transatlantic Agency since 2022, first as a reader and then as Editorial and Agent Assistant to Samantha Haywood, President & Literary Agent. Originally from Colorado, Eva earned her BA from McGill University, and worked in copywriting for a marketing company before transitioning to the publishing industry. After working with closely with many of Samantha’s author clients editorially and throughout the submission process, she’s thrilled to bring her passion for agenting to a client list of her own, and continue supporting authors in every endeavor. Eva is on the hunt for upmarket and literary fiction, as well as narrative nonfiction (particularly that which reads like fiction). She’s especially excited by a memorable narrative voice, family sagas, stories with a magical realist element or folklore bent, genre-bending elements and stories from underrepresented and marginalized communities. She lives in Toronto.
