MAZUR-KAPLAN AND BLOSSOM FILMS OPTION BEST-SELLER “THE SILENT WIFE,”
ACADEMY AWARD WINNING ACTRESS NICOLE KIDMAN TO STAR AND PRODUCE.

The Silent WifeMazur-Kaplan along with Nicole Kidman and her Blossom Films, have optioned the film rights to this summer’s sleeper breakout literary hit THE SILENT WIFE, by A.S.A. Harrison for Kidman to star and produce with Blossom partner Per Saari and Mazur-Kaplan partners Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan.  Mazur-Kaplan will finance development.

THE SILENT WIFE is an emotionally-charged psychological thriller that tracks a marriage headed for catastrophe: Todd, a cheater, exists in dual worlds; Jodi, whose carefully ordered existence is in jeopardy, has nothing left to lose.

Blossom Films is a production company founded by Nicole Kidman and Per Saari in 2010.  The first production by the company was RABBIT HOLE, which earned Kidman both Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.

Blossom is currently developing FAMILY FANG, written by David Lindsay-Abaire, an adaptation of best-seller RECONSTRUCTING AMELIA for HBO, Simon Kinberg’s THE EIGHTH WONDER for Fox, an adaptation of the best-selling novel LITTLE BEE for BBC Films, a biography of singer Dusty Springfield, and a remake of Alvin Sargent’s LOVE PAIN AND THE WHOLE DAMN THING.

Mazur/Kaplan is a books-to-screen production company lead by award-winning producer Paula Mazur (NIM’S ISLAND, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, CORRINA, CORRINA) and prominent bookseller and National Book Foundation honoree, Mitchell Kaplan.  Mazur/Kaplan is currently developing the bestseller THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY with Studio Canal, which Simon Curtis is attached to direct. They are also producing, with Studio Canal, the bestseller MAJOR PETTIGREW’S LAST STAND currently being adapted by Jack Thorne and Deborah Moggach.  Most recently, they produced the AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Televisions Arts Awards) nominated film, RETURN TO NIM’S ISLAND starring Bindi Irwin for Walden Media.

A. S. A. Harrison began her adult life by diving into the art world, rubbing elbows with the likes of Andy Warhol and William Burroughs, and her forays into performance art, and later art criticism, led her to write a number of nonfiction books. But Harrison truly found her calling with fiction and her chilling debut novel, THE SILENT WIFE.

Unfortunately, Harrison passed away in April, just a few months shy of seeing her debut novel simultaneously published in the US, Canada, and the UK, and translated in over 20 languages. Harrison proved to be a dangerously talented writer who grips the reader from page one.  A.S.A. Harrison (1948-2013) was the author of four non-fiction books, and THE SILENT WIFE was her debut novel. It will be translated into five languages. She was married to a visual artist in Toronto.

Harrison’s estate was represented by Paradigm on behalf of Samantha Haywood and the Transatlantic Agency.
