Nicole Winstanley, Publisher of Penguin Canada, has acquired AND THE BOYS WILL PLAY, a new novel by Joanne Proulx, for publication in Canada in spring 2017 under the company’s Hamish Hamilton imprint. The deal was arranged via Samantha Haywood of the Transatlantic Agency. AND THE BOYS WILL PLAY is a story about power, financial dependence, instinct, sex and survival in contemporary society, and if, or how, love fits in.

Here is what Nicole has to say about Joanne’s powerful sophomore novel. “…an absolutely searing novel about socially condoned male-violence that tackles a shockingly pervasive issue with originality and verve, revealing how our irresponsible, self-serving choices play-out tragically in the wider world.”

Joanne Proulx’s critically acclaimed first novel, ANTHEM OF A RELUCTANT PROPHET, won the Sunburst Award for Fantastic Fiction and was named a best debut by The Globe and Mail and Kirkus Reviews. The novel is currently in development as a feature film.
