We’re celebrating our client Drawn and Quarterly for an unprecedented accomplishment – D&Q’s title SABRINA by Nick Drnaso has been long-listed for the 2018 The Man Booker Prize!! This marks the first time a graphic novel has been nominated for the main fiction category for this award. CONGRATS to D&Q and Nick Drnaso!

We’re proud to represent the foreign rights to this title, which has sold to Granta in the UK, Coconino in Italy, Ginkgo in China, Salamandra in Spain and Presque Lune in France. SABRINA published in North American with D&Q in May 2018.

The Man Booker Prize was established in 1969 and is recognized as the leading prize for literary fiction written in English. This year’s 13 long-listed books were selected from 171 submissions, the highest number of submissions in the prize’s 50-year history.

FROM THE JURY: “Given the changing shape of fiction, it was only a matter of time before a graphic novel was included on the Man Booker longlist. Sabrina makes demands on the reader in precisely the way all good fiction does. Oblique, subtle, minimal, unmanipulative: the style of the pictures is the book’s worldview. Drnaso uses images to express an idea about what’s invisible – an idea about uncertainty, and the different kinds of holes that missing people leave in our lives.”

The shortlist will be announced on September 20th, with the winner being announced on October 16th. Best of luck to D&Q and Nick Drsano!
