Transatlantic Agency is thrilled to share that Sharon Bala‘s THE BOAT PEOPLE (McClelland & Stewart Canada, Doubleday US) has made the 2020 International Dublin Award longlist!

The 2020 International Dublin Award is annually presented to a novel which, in the opinion of the judges, makes a lasting contribution to excellence in world literature. Nominations are submitted by libraries in major cities world-wide. The award has been in existence since 1996. 

THE BOAT PEOPLE follows a group of refugees who survive a perilous ocean voyage only to face the threat of deportation amid accusations of terrorism. Since its publication in January 2018, THE BOAT PEOPLE has earned tremendous acclaim and has turned into a national bestseller, a finalist for CBC Canada Reads, and the winner of the Harper Lee Prize, in addition to numerous other accolades and  nominations.
