Katie Zdybel has won first place in Exile Quarterly’s Carter V Cooper’s Short Fiction Competition, as judged by Joyce Carol Oates, for her short story “The Critics.” That story and another by Katie, “Honey Maidens,” will appear in the CVC 9 Anthology this fall. The competition is sponsored by Gloria Vanderbilt in honor of her son, Carter V Cooper.

Katie Zdybel’s writing has been published in North of Ordinary, Shambhala Sun, and on CBC Canada Writes. Her first draft-novel was a quarter-finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and she has received the Yukon Advanced Artist Award. She’s an MFA student in Creative Writing at UBC and reviews for PRISM Magazine. Katie is represented by Stephanie Sinclair.
