Massive congrats to Sylvia McNicholl, Tanya Lloyd Kyi, Rachel Poliquin, and Lorna Schultz Nicholson who have been shortlisted for this year’s Hackmatack Awards! The Hackmatack Children’s Choice Book Award is a literary program designed for young readers in Atlantic Canada. Each year, thousands of children in grades four to six (aged nine to twelve) read from the selection of outstanding Canadian books and vote for their favourites.

The Diamond Mistake Mystery by Sylvia McNicholl was published by Dundurn and is the latest installment of a series about dog walker turned tweenage private eye Stephen Noble. 

Mya’s Strategy to Save the World by Tanya Lloyd Kyi was published by Puffin Canada and chronicles Mya’s campaign to save the world and, in the short term, convince her parents to get her a cell phone.

Beastly Puzzles by Rachel Poliquin and illustrated by Byron Eggenschwiler was published by Kids Can Press and is a humorous and absurd animal guessing game.

Amazing Hockey Stories: PK Subban by Lorna Schultz Nicholson and illustrated by D A Bishop was published by Scholastic and is the latest in her series of behind-the-scenes stories of success of incredible hockey players.

Sylvia, Tanya, Rachel and Lorna are all represented by Amy Tompkins.
