Crow by Amy Spurway (Goose Lane Editions) has been shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour, which has been given in honor of Canadian humour writer Stephen Leacock since 1947, is accompanied by a silver medal and $15,000. The medal winner will be announced on Friday, June 5, 2020.

Crow tells the story of a woman whose terminal cancer diagnosis inspires her to return to her hometown in Cape Breton and write a tell-all memoir about her supposedly “cursed” family.

Amy Spurway was born and raised on Cape Breton Island, where, at the age of eleven, she landed her first writing and performing gigs with CBC Radio.  She has worked as a freelance writer, communications consultant, editor, and performer. Amy is represented by Marilyn Biderman.
