Nimbus Publishing managing editor Whitney Moran has acquired World rights to SLOWPOKE THE BELL ISLAND MINE HORSE by Heather Smith and illustrated by Genevieve Simms, about remote Bell Island, Newfoundland, in the mid-twentieth-century and follows young Jimmy who, at eleven years old, must enter the local iron ore mine to help support his family. Knowing full well the story of his father’s tragic death at the same mine, Jimmy must overcome his fears–with the help of a new friend–when disaster strikes again.
