On the first day of National Indigenous History Month, the Transatlantic Agency, situated on the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit, acknowledges with profound grief the uncovering of the remains of 215 Indigenous children at the residential school site in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation in British Columbia. Our thoughts are with these children, their families, their communities, and all of the victims of the genocide committed by Canada’s residential schools.
We add our voices to those calling on the federal government to implement all of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 calls to action. We have made a donation to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (https://www.irsss.ca/). We encourage our friends and industry colleagues to do the same and to sign the petition for a National Day of Mourning (http://chng.it/Ywx6dbJqbw).
