Kate Fletcher at Candlewick has signed graphic novelist Mel Valentine Vargas (l.) to create a graphic novel interpretation of Meg Medina’s award-winning YA novel Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass, about a Latina teen who is targeted by a bully at her new school and must discover resources she never knew she had. Publication is planned to coincide with the book’s 10th anniversary in 2024; Elizabeth Bennett at Transatlantic Agency brokered the deal for world rights.
