Samantha Haywood, President of the Transatlantic Agency, is delighted to announce the newly formed Media & TV Film Division with Laura Cameron stepping into the inaugural role of in-house TV Film Agent. Laura has been a Transatlantic literary agent since 2020 and has her own impressive list of author clients.

In Laura’s new role she will be co-agenting book-to-TV/film and select screenwriting properties with other Transatlantic agents, attending festivals, and coordinating outreach across the agency.  Transatlantic agents also have the option of working direct to producers/buyers and with out-of-house coagents.

Concurrently, the Transatlantic Agency is developing a boutique client list of screenwriters, many of whom are already agency author clients, such as Catherine Hernandez whose feature film “Scarborough” adapted by Hernandez from her award-winning debut novel was nominated for Rogers Best Canadian Feature Award and the Toronto Film Critics Awards. Other screenwriting clients include Iain Reid, Naben Ruthnum, Zalika Reid-Benta, Tim Fontaine, Marissa Stapley, Hadiya Roderique and Elisabeth de Mariaffi. In addition to writing adaptations of their own work, these select clients have original series and feature films in development and are available for writing rooms.

The Transatlantic Agency’s Media & TV Film Division, sometimes in association with talent agencies, has negotiated over a hundred book-to-TV/film deals in the past few years, for scripted, unscripted and animated features and series, including previously announced deals for Charlie Kaufman’s Netflix feature film adaptation of Iain Reid’s bestselling novel I’M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS and the upcoming Amazon production of his internationally bestselling, grounded sci-fi novel FOE, from Oscar-award-winning director Garth Davis, starring Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre. See below for a selection of some of the agency’s books currently in the works for adaptation.

With the formation of the Media & TV Film Division, the Transatlantic continues to build its reputation across the entertainment industry as a valuable source of underlying IP. For more information and hot lists of our new properties, contact
