Congratulations Sarah Berman and Perdita Felicien, who have been shortlisted for the Eighth Annual Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize! The Prize was established to bring recognition to Canadian literary talent in three categories: Nonfiction, Literary Fiction and a rotating Genre Fiction category, which is Romance this year. The winners will be announced June 22, 2022.

Sarah is represented by Carolyn Forde.

My Mother’s Daughter: A Memoir of Struggle and Triumph by Perdita Felicien (Doubleday Canada) has been nominated in the Nonfiction Category! Decades before Perdita Felicien became a World Champion hurdler running the biggest race of her life at the 2004 Olympics, she carried more than a nation’s hopes—she carried her mother Catherine’s dreams. Perdita is represented by Samantha Haywood.
