Writer, radio host, and public speaker Bee Quammie’s THE BOOK OF POSSIBILITIES: WORDS OF WISDOM ON THE ROAD TO BECOMING, advice from a mother to her daughters, to Laura Dosky at Penguin Canada, in a very nice deal, in a two-book deal, by Chelene Knight and Carolyn Forde at Transatlantic Agency (world).

More about the author:

Bee Quammie is a writer, radio host, TV personality, and public speaker. With a degree in Health Sciences from Western University, Bee spent over a decade in the healthcare industry (working in mental health research, international health, and acquired brain injury work) before transitioning fully to writing and media.

Bee started blogging in 2011, and after the birth of her first daughter in 2014 Bee founded The Brown Suga Mama—a blog focused on motherhood from the perspective of a Black Canadian mom. Bee has been recognized by Black Enterprise as one of the “most impactful and successful voices in the online space” and was the recipient of the Best Blogger Award at the 2014 Black Canadians Awards.

Blogging offered Bee the opportunity to grow as a freelance writer, gaining bylines in publications like The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, Men’s Health, Macleans, and many more. Bee writes frequently on topics surrounding parenting, race and culture, feminism, fashion and beauty, health and wellness, and pop culture—and has cultivated a strong voice and dedicated audience. Bee is also a skilled copywriter, working with big and small companies to craft messaging, copy, and communications.

Bee has also taken her thoughts, words, and knowledge from behind the laptop screen. She was the co-host of The Kultur’D Show on Global News Radio for nearly 3 years, covering topics around pop culture and diversity—and interviewing celebs like Colman Domingo, Anika Noni Rose, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and more. She has also been featured on CityTV’s Cityline, CTV’s The Social, and ET Canada Live, and has been a featured commentator on CBC—both for CBC Radio and for CBC’s flagship news show, The National. She has spoken at conferences and panels across North America, mentors in programs for young girls and women of colour, and is a featured speaker with the National Speakers Bureau.

Bee is an accomplished and multi-passionate creative with a knack for storytelling, communication, and outreach, who will continue making an impact on the world around her for years to come. She currently resides with her two daughters in the Greater Toronto Area.

Bee is represented by Chelene Knight and Carolyn Forde.
