André Babyn is a writer and PhD student at the University of Toronto. He is the author of Evie of the Deepthorn (Dundurn Press), which Quill and Quire called “a powerful and promising debut” and Kirkus Reviews described as “deeply affecting writing.” André’s short stories have appeared in The Fanzine, Grain, Maisonneuve, Hobart, and elsewhere. In 2015, he received the Adam Penn Gilders Scholarship in Creative Writing for his story “The Rifle.” In 2010, he won the Norma Epstein Award for Creative Writing for his story “Imperfect Homes.”

André has written a new novel, RELEASE, about the breakdown of one university administrator’s neoliberal consciousness, her relationship to an opportunist litigator, and the city they live in after a quintet of eco-terrorists stage a cataclysmic assault on her school’s art gallery.
