Transatlantic is proud to share that author/illustrator Damian Alexander has been featured in an article on the Dr. Martens site. In partnership with The Trevor Project, the feature focuses on a pair of Dr. Martens boots that Damian Alexander customized. The art, which surrounds inclusive motifs, “WE, US” in big, bold letters and bright rainbow colors, is to help LGBTQ+ kids feel seen and raise awareness for the important work done by The Trevor Project.

“As a kid, I often felt alone, so I’m drawn to ‘togetherness’ and ‘found families.’ I wanted to illustrate something with that theme. I also sprinkled in some 1950s atomic starbursts, 1970s-inspired rainbow arches, and funky 1980s patterns to represent that we (LGBTQIA+ people) have always been here.” – Damian Alexander when discussing his design.

This design is part of the ongoing series of featured customizations of Dr. Martens “Doc” boots, and furthers the ongoing collaboration between the shoe company and The Trevor Project.
