Transatlantic is delighted to announce that English rights in North America to Naz Riahi’s short story collection, VIBRATIONS, have been acquired by Michelle Tea at DOPAMINE Books!
In VIBRATIONS, seven short stories hum with the subtle ache of Iranian immigrant narrators who are searching for their place between two worlds, told with the expansiveness of space for imperfection, joy, failure and comedy.
Naz Riahi (she/her) is a queer, Iranian writer and director. Her work explores the spaces, emotions and opportunities of otherness and isolation, informed by her experiences as an immigrant. Her creative writing has been published in Harper’s Bazaar, Food & Wine, Los Angeles Review of Books, Longreads, Catapult, The Fader, Guernica and more. Naz has also performed original writing at MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles). Naz’s work from the comedic (a notorious Beyond Sausage photo) to the political (Instagram posts about Iran that have been shared more than 200K times) and an essay in Harper’s Bazaar have gone viral to the tune of millions of impressions and shared by everyone from Jenna Ortega to the Kardashians and beyond. Naz holds an MFA from the New School and is the recipient of a NYFA City Artist Corps Grant.
Amanda Orozco at Transatlantic Agency handled the deal.
