We are over the moon excited to announce that Governor-General’s-Award-winning author Eric Walters and poet/motivational speaker Wali Shah’s co-authored middle grade novel CALL ME AL, has been acquired by Sarah Howden at Orca Book Publishers for publication in the spring of 2024!

CALL ME AL tells the story of eighth grade student Ali Khan who finds that writing poetry—first about his crush, then about what it means to be an immigrant and the anti-Muslim racism around him—helps him discover who he truly is.

Amy Tompkins at Transatlantic Agency represented Walters and Hilary McMahon at Westwood Creative Artists represented Khan in the deal for world rights.

Eric Walters is the author of over 100 books for young readers, including the popular Rule of Three post-apocalyptic adventure series. His recent middle grade novel The King of Jam Sandwiches won the 2020 Governor General’s Award for a children’s novel. He was nominated twice for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, and his books have been published in fourteen languages. Eric is represented by Amy Tompkins.

Congratulations!
