We are thrilled to announce that Giller prize-shortlisted author of YIDDISH FOR PIRATES and NOTHING THE SAME, EVERYTHING HAUNTED, Gary Barwin’s SCANDAL IN THE ALPHORN FACTORY: NEW AND SELECTED SHORT FICTION (1984-2024) has been acquired by Leigh Nash at Assembly Press for the publisher’s inaugural fall list!

SCANDAL IN THE ALPHORN FACTORY is a collection of new and selected short fiction spanning the author’s incredible 40-year career; a sparkling showcase of Barwin’s trademark brilliance, wit, and original takes on the human condition.

Publication is planned for September 2024. 
The deal was arranged by Evan Brown and Samantha Haywood.

Gary Barwin is the author of 26 books including NOTHING THE SAME, EVERYTHING HAUNTED: THE BALLAD OF MOTL THE COWBOY, which won the Canadian Jewish Literary Award, and BIRD ARSONIST (with Tom Prime). His national bestselling novel YIDDISH FOR PIRATES won the Leacock Medal for Humour and the Canadian Jewish Literary Award, was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award for Fiction and the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and was longlisted for Canada Reads. He lives in Hamilton, Ontario.
