We are over the moon excited to share that Editor- in-chief of Geist magazine Emma Cleary’s debut novel ALL THOSE STRANGERS, has been acquired by Jennifer Lambert at HarperCollins Canada, Suzie Doore at The Borough Press, and Liz Velez at Harper, for publication in winter 2026!

ALL THOSE STRANGERS is a queer, feminist, literary horror following two sisters confronting issues of autonomy, trauma, and desire as one struggles with infertility and the other a mysterious, rapidly developing, unwanted pregnancy.

Emma Cleary is a writer and editor living in Vancouver, BC. Her short fiction and essays have been published in Best British Short Stories, James Baldwin Review, and Canadian Literature, among other places. She is editor-in-chief at Geist magazine and former managing editor of PRISM international. From Liverpool in the UK, she loves maps, poetry, comics, and community gardens.

Emma holds a PhD in literature and recently graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, where she developed a collection of weird fiction and a poetry chapbook.
