We are excited to announce that titles from five Transatlantic clients have been selected for the 2024 BC and Yukon Book Prizes!

The BC and Yukon Book Prizes, established in 1985, celebrate the achievements of British Columbia and Yukon writers, illustrators and publishers.

The 10 Prizes are presented annually at the BC and Yukon Book Prizes Gala and are administered and awarded by members of a non-profit society who represent all facets of the publishing and writing community.

Here are the selected titles:

Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize

– WHAT TO BRING by Lorna Schultz Nicholson, illustrated by Ellen Rooney (OwlKids)
Lorna is represented by Amy Tompkins.

Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize

– A SEASON IN CHEZGH’UN by Darrel J. McLeod (Douglas & McIntyre)
Darrel is represented by Carolyn Forde.

Jim Deva Prize for Writing that Provokes

– UNBROKEN: MY FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL, HOPE, AND JUSTICE FOR INDIGENOUS WOMEN AND GIRLS by Angela Sterritt (Greystone Books)
Angela is represented by Samantha Haywood.

Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize

– PINE ISLAND VISITORS by Polly Horvath (Puffin Canada)

– RISE UP AND SING! POWER, PROTEST, AND ACTIVISM IN MUSIC by Andrea Warner, illustrated by Louise Reimer (Greystone Books)
Polly was previously represented by Andrea Cascardi.
